The Future of God (A Conversation between Deepak Chopra, M.D. and Kyra Phillips, CNN)
Deepak Chopra talks about God as the one nonlocal Reality, or one consciousness within which there are many modes of perception, identity and consciousness based on the differences in species.
God is pure awareness in which there are multiple modes of observation, multiple perceptions, but it is the same… see I say awareness is one, perceptions are many. But the awareness, the spark of awareness in life, the spark of awareness in you is the same before it finds a mode of observation. Okay? A butterfly sees a different world, honeybee sees a different world, and an eagle sees a different world. But at the root of it all is the field of awareness.
Kyra: So is our experience in the physical world, is that all there is?
Deepak: Our experience in the physical world is an impermanent blip in eternity. Okay? It’s like a blink in the eye of eternity. It’s a pattern of behavior of the awareness. Therefore we don’t have a permanent identity. You don’t have the same identity you had as a baby, or as a child, or as a teenager, adolescent. Now, tomorrow is a different identity. So which one is real? Well, none of them. The only identity that’s real is the awareness that gives rise to the multiple identities. So we are like great Shakespearean actors. It’s our destiny to play an infinity of roles. But we are not the roles we play. We are the awareness in which the roles come and go.
Kyra: So there’s three realities? Physical-material? Quantum? And non-local?
Kyra: Which of these realities is more real?
Deepak: Well the real reality is the non-local. But let’s talk about the physical. So physical is this reality. Matter and energy. It includes my body, okay? What’s my body? It’s made up of atoms… atoms have energy… e=mc2 right? So these are manufactured in the crucible of stars. So basically your body is recycled cosmic dust. Recycled stardust–that’s what it is. It’s everything from your feces to your eyeballs to your neurons. It’s just recycling cosmic dust—physical reality.
